You take the time to understand what the business is trying to achieve, assess the risk and provide clear, balanced advice that supports both the business and our people.
You're comfortable working independently and being the go-to P&C; person for Victoria, while staying connected to and supported by a broader national P&C; team.Most importantly, you're approachable, down to earth and comfortable working across both office and field-based environments.About the RoleBased at our Keysborough branch, this role will be the senior, hands-on People & Culture partner for our Victorian operations.
Reporting to the General Manager – Victoria, with support and connection to our national P&C; team, you'll take ownership of P&C; locally and work closely with our leadership team to continue building strong people practices across the state.
You will also provide leadership and support to our Victorian P&C; Coordinator.The breadth of the role spans business partnering, ER, culture and change, recruitment and retention, capability, WHS/RTW,
IR and compliance, national projects, people leadership and HR analytics.Your responsibilities will include:Partnering with the GM, Branch Managers and leaders across Victoria on day-to-day and strategic people mattersManaging employee relations matters end to end, including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and terminationsCoaching leadpers through performance conversations, workforce planning, change and team leadershipDriving local culture, engagement, recognition and wellbeing initiativesSupporting organisational change, including consultation and communicationOwning local recruitment, attraction and retention strategies across field and office-based rolesOverseeing onboarding and induction across VictoriaIdentifying capability gaps and supporting training, development and succession planningPartnering with Safety and Return to Work on wellbeing, psychosocial hazards and escalated injury management mattersInterpreting and applying Modern Awards, enterprise agreements and relevant workplace legislationUsing people data including turnover, engagement, absenteeism and employee relations trends to identify opportunities and provide recommendationsLeading, coaching and developing the Victorian P&C; CoordinatorContributing to and leading national P&C; initiatives including eNPS, salary reviews,
policy updates and HR systems/process improvementsAbout you 5+ years' experience in a hands-on HR Generalist or P&C; Business Partner role with end-to-end accountabilityExperience within construction, trades, manufacturing, logistics or another field-based or multi-site environment will be highly regardedTertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations or a related field, or equivalent experienceStrong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards and enterprise agreements, along with relevant Victorian legislationProven experience managing employee relations matters from start to finish, including investigations, performance management, misconduct and terminationsCommercial and pragmatic approach with the ability to balance business outcomes, risk and complianceStrong coaching and influencing skills with the confidence to work with leaders at all levelsExperience supporting culture, engagement and change initiativesAbility to work autonomously, take initiative and manage competing prioritiesPrevious experience leading, coaching or developing a direct reportStrong HR systems and data capability, with BambooHR experience advantageousCurrent driver's licence and willingness to travel to Victorian branches and sites, with occasional travel to our Gold Coast Head OfficeWhat Buildsafe Can Offer YouPermanent full-time positionCompetitive salary with annual salary reviewsSome work-from-home flexibility following probationOpportunity to lead P&C; locally while being part of an experienced national P&C; teamDirect leadership responsibility for our Victorian P&C; CoordinatorPersonal and career development opportunitiesBuildsafe Staff Care – our internal employee support programIf you're an experienced HR professional looking for a role where you can genuinely partner with the business, take ownership and make an impact across a growing Victorian operation, we'd love to hear from you.
