About the role
We're seeking a Senior Makerspace Technician to play a key role in our dynamic, hands-on innovation environment.
In this role, you'll lead the execution of complex fabrication projects, operate and maintain advanced machinery, and mentor other technicians and users.
You'll bring a blend of high-level craftsmanship, technical expertise, and creative problem-solving to ensure all prototypes and projects meet the highest functional, aesthetic, and safety standards.
Beyond fabrication, you'll contribute to the ongoing development of the Breville Makerspace by managing inventory, coordinating with vendors, and supporting WHS compliance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled maker who thrives on collaboration, continuous learning, and shaping an innovative workshop culture.
This is a 12-month max term contract.
Key responsibilities include:
Operate advanced machining equipment, including multi-axis CNC machinery.
Experience with multi-axis robots is a plus.
Lead high-complexity builds from planning through delivery.
Mentor Junior and Makerspace Technicians in advanced fabrication and finishing techniques.
Enforce WHS compliance and identify safety improvements.
Assist in procurement, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and capability.
We're Interested in Hearing from People Who Have:
6–9 years' experience in prototyping and fabrication, including leadership in complex builds or projects.
A Certificate III or IV in a relevant trade (or equivalent experience).
Proven ability to operate and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment (e.g. CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing, and traditional workshop tools).
Strong understanding of materials, processes, and workshop safety standards.
A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with staff and stakeholders.
