Senior Safety Advisor - Systems and Governence n

The Prospect
n This is a
3-month contract with possible extension
. You'll help strengthen the safety systems that underpin a complex, high-profile infrastructure program.
n
You'll own the frameworks that keep people safe: the Safety Management System, procedures, training, reporting and assurance. You'll also stay close to the work, giving practical advice to project teams, leaders and contractors.
n You'll have the chance to make a visible impact early. That means turning safety data into insight, making systems simpler and more effective, and helping build a culture where safety is led from the front.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Develop, maintain and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS)
n
Review and update safety procedures, standards, forms and guidance documents
n
Design, develop and maintain safety training, induction and competency programs
n
Manage safety reporting systems, dashboards and performance metrics
n
Analyse safety data, trends and leading indicators to identify improvement opportunities
n
Coordinate incident, hazard and corrective action reporting processes
n
Maintain key safety documentation, registers and records
n
Support safety assurance activities
n
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety performance and culture
n
Support the implementation of safety initiatives across projects and business functions
n
Provide practical safety advice and support to project teams, leaders and contractors
n
Promote workforce engagement through coaching, communication and proactive safety leadership
n
About You n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, WHS or a related discipline
n
Solid experience in a safety systems, HSE advisory or safety management role, ideally within major infrastructure, energy, construction or utilities
n
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining a Safety Management System aligned with ISO ***** and Australian WHS legislation
n
Proven ability to write clear, practical procedures, standards and guidance material
n
Experience designing and delivering safety training, inductions and competency frameworks
n
Strong analytical skills, with confidence building dashboards, reporting on performance and interpreting leading and lagging indicators
n
Working knowledge of incident investigation, hazard management and corrective action processes
n
Excellent communication and influencing skills, and comfortable coaching and engaging people at all levels, from site crews to senior leaders
n
Highly organised, detail-focused and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
n
Available at short notice for a 3-month contract, with flexibility for a possible extension
n
Full Australian working rights
n
n
Experience on large-scale construction projects will be well regarded. So will familiarity with safety management software platforms and exposure to contractor safety management.
