Job Description
This is a hands-on project delivery position with responsibility for managing electrical and engineering projects across workshop and customer mine sites.
n
You will work directly with customers, engineering teams, supervisors, tradespeople, suppliers and management to ensure projects are delivered safely, commercially and technically.
n
Depending on your background, the position can be structured around either a
Project Manager
or
Project Engineer
level appointment.
Projects may include: n
n
Underground electrical equipment overhauls and upgrades
n
Flameproof substations, DCBs and electrical distribution equipment
n
Belt starter and control system projects
n
Electrical manufacturing and
switchboard/control
panel projects
n
Underground equipment modifications and engineering upgrades
n
Site installations and commissioning
n
Compliance testing and electrical audits
n
Shutdown and maintenance projects
n
Equipment rebuilds and major workshop projects
n
Customer-specific engineering and improvement projects
n
What You'll Be Responsible For n
You will take ownership of projects from handover through engineering, procurement, production, testing, site delivery and close-out.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Managing project scope, programme, budget and commercial performance
n
Developing project schedules, milestones and delivery plans
n
Coordinating engineering, procurement, workshop production and site activities
n
Working directly with mine-site engineering and maintenance personnel
n
Managing customer communication, meetings, reporting and project expectations
n




Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and technical documentation
n
Identifying project risks and resolving issues before they impact delivery
n
Coordinating labour, materials, subcontractors and suppliers
n
Monitoring project costs, committed expenditure, labour hours and forecast cost to complete
n
Managing RFIs, technical clarifications and customer approvals
n
Identifying and managing scope changes and variations
n
Supporting estimating and tender preparation for recent projects
n
Coordinating FATs, inspections, testing, commissioning and project handover
n
Ensuring project documentation, quality records and MDR requirements are completed correctly
n
Working closely with workshop supervisors and tradespeople to remove production constraints
n
Conducting site visits and supporting installation and commissioning activities as required
n
Ensuring projects comply with customer requirements, Australian Standards, procedures and applicable mining legislation
n
About You n
Previous experience working within underground mining operations is essential.
n
You should understand how underground mining projects actually operate - the environment, equipment, safety expectations, operational pressures and the importance of getting equipment back into service.
Ideally, you will have experience in some combination of: n

Underground coal mining
n
Electrical engineering or electrical projects
n
Underground electrical distribution
n
Flameproof and hazardous-area equipment
n
Electrical control systems
n
Mining maintenance or engineering departments
n
