This work will support the operation and maintenance of the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST), C-Band Radar System and Deep-Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC), located in Exmouth, Western Australia.
These are major assets for Australia's support of the United States Space Surveillance Network (SSN), which includes dedicated, collateral, and contributing electro‐optical, passive radio frequency (RF) and radar sensors.
Responsibilities
Identify product, people and process risks and elevate through the defined process
Raise technical information and manage the resolution of the associated risk through the end-to‐end engineering process
Perform design, analysis, implementation, test and lifecycle support of mechanical components, systems and sub‐systems
Prepare, review, release and maintain engineering documentation
Planning, analysis and reporting of maintenance tasks
Gathering test data and analysis/presentation of the results
Root cause failure analysis and remediation
Managing contractors on site and reviewing their work
Ensure work complies with Australian Standards
Scoping technical work packages
Spares and obsolescence management
Qualifications & Skills
Mechanical systems expertise
Structural and lifting experience




Process improvement
Change management
Risk analysis
Technical communication
Root cause analysis
Project engineering
Design process experience
3D CAD design using Creo
Mechanical component selection and procurement
Knowledge of configuration control
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of systems engineering
Requires a university degree in mechanical engineering
White card is required for site access at HEH Exmouth
Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance as needed.
