Role
Mobile Area Resource Centre (MARC) services support small rural and regional Victorian government schools by providing students with access to a broad and diverse range of quality texts, library resources and literacy-based learning experiences.
The MARC program operates as a mobile library service, with the MARC teacher travelling between participating schools to deliver engaging literacy programs that foster a love of reading, develop students¿ literacy skills and support learning across the curriculum.
The MARC teacher is employed by the base school, Leitchville Primary School, and works collaboratively with four serviced schools within the cluster.
The role involves developing positive and productive relationships with students,
staff and school communities to increase access to high-quality books and educational resources, strengthen student engagement in literacy and relevant curriculum areas, and contribute to improved student learning outcomes.
The MARC teacher typically provides a full day of service to each participating school on a rotational basis.
The teacher works closely with the principals and staff of serviced schools while maintaining regular communication with, and receiving professional and administrative support from, the base school.
The role requires flexibility, organisation and collaboration to ensure the MARC program responds effectively to the differing needs and contexts of each school within the cluster.
