An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Packaging Manager to lead packaging operations at our Berri site.
n
n
Reporting to the Packaging Manager AU, this is a Full-time, Permanent role and is responsible for overseeing production activities to ensure production is delivered on time, within specification and within budget across a 24/5 packaging operation. The operation includes multiple production lines covering still wine, sparkling wine and cask packaging.

The Packaging Manager will lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, promote a lean manufacturing culture and create a safe, productive and progressive working setting.

nKey Responsibilities n

Deliver production activities in accordance with the production plan and budget requirements.
n
n
Drive machine efficiency, labour productivity and operational performance.
n
n
Promote continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
n
n
Ensure departmental standard operating procedures remain current and are followed.
n
n
n
n
nLeadership n
n
n
n
Lead, coach and develop the Packaging Operations team.
n
n
Manage performance, safety, attendance, work standards and operational efficiencies.
n
n
Ensure employees are appropriately trained and competent to perform their roles.
n
n
Build a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
n
n
Support return-to-work programs and workforce planning initiatives.
n
n
n
n
nSafety, Quality & Compliance n
n
n
n




Promote and maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
n
n
Support compliance with quality standards through the application of standard operating procedures.
n
n
Ensure internal auditing requirements are completed.
n
n
Support certification and risk management systems, including HACCP, BRC, ISO**** and ISO*****.
n
n
n
n
nBudget & Reporting n
n
n
n
Support the management of packaging budgets.
n
n
Manage team leave planning and workforce rostering.
n
n
Contribute to capital planning activities.
n
n
Analyse and report operational and budget performance.
n
n
Approve payroll transactions within Kronos and ensure accurate operational reporting.
n
n
n
n
nQualifications and Experience n
n
Minimum 5 years' functional management experience in a large-scale multi-shift packaging production operation
n
n
Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
n
n
Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and database systems, including CMMS.
n
n
Sound business and financial acumen.
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Food Technology or Business Management.
n
n
Previous experience within the wine industry will be highly regarded.
n
n
nAdditional Requirements n

Current driver's licence.
n
n
Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required.
n
n
Availability for occasional business travel.
n
n
Willingness to undertake additional training required for the role.
n
