Village National is seeking a reliable and motivated Preparation Cook to join our fast-paced kitchen team in Moranbah. We provide accommodation and catering solutions for some of Australia's leading Resources and Energy companies across both fixed and mobile camps.

This is a hands-on role, perfect for someone with experience in bulk cooking, food prep, and kitchen support, who enjoys working as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality meals to our guests.

About the Role
n
As a Preparation Cook, you will assist the Chef and Kitchen Hands with meal preparation, including crib, lunch, and dessert service, slicing meats, in-service cooking, and ensuring all food storage and safety requirements are met. You will also support the kitchen in maintaining cleanliness, stock rotation, and compliance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Prepare vegetables, proteins, salads, desserts, and other meal components according to daily prep lists
n
Assist Chefs with menu planning, food ordering, stock rotation, and temperature monitoring
n
Participate in in-service cooking under the supervision of the Chef
n




Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene according to industry standards
n
Assist Kitchen Hands with dining room activities, restocking, and conference/meeting setups
n
Ensure compliance with food safety and HACCP standards
n
Operate equipment safely, including forklifts if licensed
n
Contribute to a positive workplace culture and offer suggestions for process improvements
n

To Be Considered, You'll Need:
n
n
At least 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in bulk or camp-style catering
n
Competent knife skills and understanding of food safety practices
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
Strong attention to detail, time management, and resilience
n
n
Desirable Skills & Certifications:
n
n
Certificate II in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
n
First Aid / CPR certification
n
Experience in menu planning or stocktakes
n
Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery - preferred but not essential
n
n
Important Notes:
n
n
This is not a FIFO position - you must live locally or be able to travel to Moranbah at your own cost
n
You must have the right to work in Australia
