Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating, conducting, and promoting the sport of greyhound racing and greyhound welfare in our state.
The sport generates $643 million in economic activity, returns over $75 million in prize money, rehomes more than 2,600 greyhounds, and directly involves over 17,000 people.

Job Description
About the role
Location: Regional Victoria - Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Warragul, Cranbourne, Traralgon and Shepparton
As a Cadet Steward, you'll work alongside experienced Stewards, gaining practical experience in the day‐to‐day operations of greyhound racing.
Through hands‐on training and mentoring, you'll develop the knowledge and skills required to support the fair and effective regulation of racing events.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the conduct and supervision of race meetings, ensuring compliance with the Rules of Racing.
Monitoring racing activities to support fairness, integrity and greyhound welfare.
Assisting with race‐day inspections, investigations, inquiries and other integrity‐related activities.
Supporting anti‐doping and prohibited substance control programs.
Preparing accurate reports, maintaining detailed records and assisting with administrative tasks.
Building positive working relationships with trainers, participants, veterinarians and other industry stakeholders.
Taking part in ongoing training and professional development.

Previous experience in the racing industry is an advantage, but it isn't essential.
Above all, you bring a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a commitment to acting with integrity.

While this role is primarily aimed at people looking to begin a career as a Cadet Steward, GRV also welcomes expressions of interest from candidates with relevant industry or regulatory experience, including current Stewards.
Applicants with experience in racing integrity, investigations, compliance, animal welfare, officiating or racing operations may be considered for opportunities suited to their qualifications and experience, as part of GRV's broader recruitment and workforce development plans.

Strong computer literacy and the ability accurately complete reports and administrative tasks in timely manner.
Flexibility to work across different racing venues, including evenings and weekends as required.
