Project Manager - Civil Infrastructure and HDD About the Role Maxibor Australia is seeking a practical, hands-on Project Manager to join our team based at Jacobs Well, Queensland.Maxibor is a specialist horizontal directional drilling contractor delivering trenchless infrastructure projects throughout Queensland and New South Wales.This position would suit a Project Manager with approximately two to five years' civil construction or infrastructure experience who is looking to broaden their project delivery experience within a specialist contractor.The successful candidate will independently manage allocated projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and close-out.
The number, size and complexity of projects allocated will reflect the person's experience.This is a hands-on project delivery position rather than a senior management or departmental leadership role.
The Project Manager will work closely with Maxibor's operations, estimating, commercial and HSEQ personnel while remaining responsible for the day-to-day management of their allocated projects.
Key Responsibilities Independently manage allocated HDD and civil infrastructure projects from award through to practical completion and close-out.
Develop and maintain practical project programs, budgets, resource plans and cost forecasts.
Coordinate drilling crews, project personnel, specialist plant, subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
Plan project mobilisations and confirm that sites are ready for Maxibor's crews and equipment.
Liaise with clients, principal contractors, engineers, consultants and project stakeholders.
Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contractual requirements.
Understand and administer the contracts for allocated projects, including scope, responsibilities, exclusions, notices, variations, extensions of time and payment claims.
Monitor project productivity, costs and performance against the approved program and budget.
Identify delays, variations,



latent conditions and other project issues and ensure the required records and notices are prepared.
Prepare progress reports, cost reports, forecasts and other required project reporting.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, productivity, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Work with Maxibor's HSEQ team to ensure compliance with company systems, client requirements and applicable legislation.
Coordinate permits, inspections, quality records, daily reports and completion documentation.
Manage day-to-day technical, operational and commercial issues and escalate significant matters when required.
Maintain effective working relationships with clients, site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
Participate in tender handovers, project start-up meetings and lessons-learned reviews.
Ensure allocated projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
Qualifications and Experience Approximately two to five years' experience in civil construction or infrastructure project delivery.
Experience managing or taking day-to-day responsibility for civil construction projects.
Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline are preferred.
Experience in HDD, trenchless construction, pipelines, utilities or major civil works would be advantageous but is not essential.
Working knowledge of construction programs, budgets, cost control and resource planning.
Practical experience reviewing construction contracts and managing project documentation.
Exposure to variations,



delay notices, extensions of time and progress claims.
Ability to identify project and contractual risks and escalate significant issues when required.
Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Confidence communicating with site personnel, clients, subcontractors and management.
Competence in Microsoft Office and project planning or project management software.
Robust commitment to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Current Australian driver's licence.
Construction Industry White Card.
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Queensland and New South Wales when required.
About You You will be practical, organised and comfortable working in a fast-moving construction environment.You will have enough project delivery experience to independently manage the day-to-day requirements of your allocated projects while recognising when a significant technical, contractual or commercial issue needs to be escalated.You will communicate clearly, maintain accurate project records and identify potential issues before they affect project safety, cost or program.This position is suited to someone who enjoys being directly involved in project delivery and wants exposure to specialist HDD and trenchless infrastructure works.
What Maxibor Offers Base salary of $85,000 to $130,000 plus superannuation, depending on qualifications and experience.A permanent, full-time position with an established specialist HDD contractor.Exposure to technically challenging civil infrastructure and trenchless projects.The chance to manage allocated projects across Queensland and New South Wales.A practical role involving both office-based and on-site responsibilities.A collaborative working environment with experienced drilling, construction, commercial and HSEQ personnel.Opportunities to broaden your civil infrastructure and specialist HDD experience
