Holdfast Components is a growing, family-owned business based in Carrum Downs, supplying quality components to the furniture, bedding, caravan, marine, motor trimming, canvas, and curtains and blinds industries. Our custom foam cutting service is growing, and we need a precise, numbers-confident person to run it.
About the Role n
We're looking for a practical, numbers-confident person to run our CNC foam cutting. You'll turn customer drawings and DXF files into accurately cut foam profiles. This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, and you'll also help the team with general storework.
What You'll Do: n
CAD & File Prep:
Prepare and edit cutting files in AutoCAD and set up DXF files for the CNC machine.

CNC Operation:
Set up and run the CNC foam cutter to produce custom foam profiles for customer orders.
n
Templates:
Create foam templates for new customer jobs.
n
Measurement & Calculation:
Work out material requirements, convert between cubic metres (m3) and square metres (m2), calculate sheet yields and keep offcuts to a minimum.
n
Vertical Saw:
Cut laminate and foam blocks accurately on the vertical saw.
n
Quality Checks:
Read technical drawings and check finished products against specs, to the millimetre.

Storework:
Receive, pick and move stock,



help with stock control and keep the work area secure and organised.
What You Must Bring n
AutoCAD & DXF:
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, with the ability to open, check and adjust DXF drawings
n
Strong Practical Maths:
Confidence with measurement, area and volume calculations, including m3 to m2 conversions
n
Technical Drawings:
Ability to read drawings and work accurately to specification
n
Attention to Detail:
Pride in getting it right the first time
n
Forklift Licence:
Current licence, or willingness to get one
n
Safety First:
Valuable understanding of workplace health and safety
n
Team Player:
Reliable, positive and willing to pitch in across the business
What We'll Train You In n
CNC Foam Cutting:
Full training on our CNC equipment for the right person.
n
Vertical Saw:
Hands-on training if you haven't used one before.
n
Bonus, Not Essential:
Previous CNC experience (any material) or experience with cutting machinery.
