The Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) is seeking a Dispute Resolution Officer – Plumbing to help resolve domestic building disputes that matter.

About the Role:
The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is seeking a skilled and passionate dispute resolution professional to join its Dispute Resolution Division, on ongoing basis.
The role is based in Melbourne's CBD with flexible hybrid work arrangements available
As a Dispute Resolution Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in helping resolve domestic building disputes under the Domestic Building Contracts Act ****.
Reporting to a Lead Officer within the Client Services group, you'll work collaboratively with homeowners, building practitioners, and other stakeholders to guide disputes toward fair and timely outcomes.
This is a dynamic, people-focused role that requires empathy, legal insight, and solid facilitation skills.
What we are looking for:
Proven experience interpreting and applying legislation
A track recordof delivering expert advice inadispute resolutionenvironment
Hands-on experience with dispute resolution techniques, including dispute assessment, case management, and facilitative settlement
Experience withfacilitatingand undertakingconciliation meetings
An ability to provide quality case management and advice,assistingparties to improvecommunication, clarify issues and explore potential solutions.
National Mediator Accreditation (highly regarded but not essential)

the BPC is Victoria's new independent regulator for the building and plumbing industries.
The BPC brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.
Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation have come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance.
