About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
MCV aims to be an cutting-edge, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
Play a key role in improving access to justice for First Peoples by leading the delivery of the Koori Hearing List pilot program at the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.
As the Koori Hearing List Advisor, you will provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander court users, helping them navigate the court process and connect with the services they need.




Working closely with Elders and Respected Persons, judicial officers and community partners, you will help strengthen cultural safety, build trust and support better outcomes for First Peoples engaging with the justice system.
In this role you will:
* Lead and continuously improve the Koori Hearing List pilot program.
* Provide culturally safe, non-legal support and guidance to First Peoples attending court.
* Assess immediate needs and coordinate referrals to Aboriginal-led and community support services.
* Build strong partnerships with Elders, Respected Persons, legal services, government agencies and community organisations.
* Prepare high-quality reports, risk assessments and court documentation.
* Provide expert advice on Koori Justice and court processes.
* Some travel to other regional court locations
About You
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position.
Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply under the special measures provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act ****.
Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required.
You have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culture and contemporary justice issues,



with the ability to build trusted relationships and navigate complex situations with empathy and professionalism.
Experience supporting people with complex needs and a commitment to culturally safe practice will be highly regarded.
