Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking a Theatre Assistant to join our Perioperative Services team in one permanent full-time and one permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) opportunity.Based at our South Brisbane campus, you'll be part of one of Queensland's leading tertiary hospitals, where our state-of-the-art operating theatres support a diverse range of surgical specialties and some of the state's most complex procedures.
Working alongside highly skilled multidisciplinary teams, you'll play an integral role in delivering secure, efficient theatre services while building your career in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+ access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doingAs a Theatre Assistant, you'll provide essential support to the perioperative team, ensuring operating theatres are prepared, maintained and ready to deliver safe, efficient surgical care.
Your responsibilities will include:Prepare operating theatres and equipment for surgical procedures according to clinical requirementsAssist with the safe manual handling and positioning of patients, equipment and suppliesClean and maintain operating theatres and equipment between procedures, following infection prevention and control standardsSupport surgical teams across adult, paediatric and obstetric operating theatresWork collaboratively with nurses, medical staff and fellow theatre assistants to ensure smooth theatre operationsContribute to a safe workplace by adhering to Workplace Health and Safety policies and organisational proceduresParticipate in mandatory education,



performance development and continuous quality improvement initiativesAbout youYou're a proactive and reliable team player who thrives in a fast-paced perioperative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality support that contributes to outstanding patient outcomes.
You will bring:Demonstrated experience working as a Theatre Orderly within a healthcare settingCertificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice), or equivalent, or willingness to obtainStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamAbility to prioritise competing tasks and remain organised in a dynamic clinical environmentSound understanding of infection prevention, workplace health and safety, and relevant legislation relating to the roleCommitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality and professional standardsAlignment with Mater's mission, values and commitment to compassionate careMater is Queensland's largest not-for-profit network of public and private hospitals and healthcare services, bringing together world-class expertise across healthcare, education, fundraising & philanthropy and research.
