Job Description
Tasks and responsibilities:
n
n
Determining construction methods, materials and quality standards, and
n drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods
n and procedures
n
n
Organising and directing site labour and the delivery of construction
n materials, plant and equipment, and establishing detailed programs for the
n coordination of site activities
n
n
Obtaining soil and rock samples at different depths across sites and
n testing samples to determine strength, compressibility and other factors that
n affect the behaviour of soil and rock when a structure is imposed and
n determining the secure loading for the soil
n
n
Studying architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to
n estimate total costs, and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as tools
n to assist in budgetary control
n
n
Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on cost,
and measuring,
n valuing and negotiating variations to designs
n
n
Analysing structural systems for both static and dynamic loads
n
n
Designing structures to ensure they do not collapse, bend, twist or
n vibrate in undesirable ways
n
n
Assessing present and future travel flow patterns taking into account
n population increase and needs change
n
n
Designing the physical aspects of transportation systems such as
n highways, railroads, urban transit, air transportation, logistical supply
n systems and their terminals
n
n
Requirementsn
Minimum experience as a
n Structural Engineer for 3 -5 years.
n
n
A bachelor's degree or higher
