Key responsibilities
Litigation:
Preparing letters of advice and letters of demand
Drafting pleadings, applications and other court documents
Preparing affidavits and witness statements
Legal research and case analysis
Preparing briefs to counsel
Working directly with barristers and expert witnesses
Discovery and preparation of evidence
Preparing chronologies, court books and hearing materials
Mediation and settlement negotiations
Attending conferences, mediations, tribunals and court hearings
Property:
Commercial property acquisitions and disposals
Commercial, retail and industrial leasing
Drafting and reviewing contracts for sale
Property due diligence and transaction investigations
Reviewing leases, tenancy schedules and property documentationStrata and owners corporation issues
Negotiating amendments to contracts and leases
Assisting with property financing and mortgage-related transactions
About you
Intelligent, curious and keen to learn
Interested in developing strong litigation and advocacy-related skills
Organised and able to manage competing deadlines
Careful with detail
Commercially minded
Confident communicating with clients and other professionals
Prepared to take responsibility for their work
Willing to ask questions when they do not know the answer
Happy to pitch in and be part of a small, busy team
Must hold, or be eligible to hold, a current Australian practising certificate
