We are proud of the incredible work our employees do providing support, giving hope, and providing opportunities for a better life.About The RoleReporting to the Program & Activity Supervisor, you will deliver structured programs that support the wellbeing, engagement and daily functioning of detainees at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.You'll facilitate practical, skills-based sessions such as life skills, wellbeing activities, fitness or cooking programs.
Your work will help detainees maintain routine, build confidence and stay connected during periods of uncertainty.Key responsibilities include:Deliver group programs that promote wellbeing, routine and constructive engagementFacilitate practical workshops (e.g. life skills, fitness, cooking,
education support)Contribute to culturally sensitive, inclusive program designMaintain professional boundaries and respond appropriately to challenging behavioursProvide feedback to support program evaluation and improvementRespond to incidents and emergencies in line with operational proceduresKey RequirementsYou're approachable, energetic, and passionate about sharing your skills to help others.
You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and have a calm, professional manner in dynamic environments.Diploma qualification in sports, recreation, learning and development, ethnic affairs or similar (mandatory)Solid communication skills and the ability to de-escalate and manage challenging situationsMinimum 1-2 years of experience in program delivery or facilitationCurrent First Aid & CPRProven COVID vaccination (min. two vaccination)Ability to pass an Australian Federal Police CheckProudly promoting a culture of Safety, Respect and Dignity, Secure Journeys instils the BIONIC (Believe It Or Not I Care) philosophy in all our centres.
