The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) is seeking an Education Project Officer to work with key stakeholders across the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) to develop and implement a new Diabetes Support Worker Development Pathway for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health workers and health practitioners.
The pathway will support health workers to build their skills in diabetes education and management and provide timely, culturally appropriate diabetes care and support within their communities, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to specialist services can be limited.

About the role
Key responsibilities will include:
Establishing and coordinating project plans, governance arrangements, milestones and reporting.
Building relationships and coordinating consultation with stakeholders across health, community services, education and workforce sectors.
Coordinating workshops, focus groups, interviews, surveys and advisory meetings, and incorporating stakeholder feedback into pathway development.
Reviewing existing diabetes education, workforce development, training and upskilling frameworks.
Developing a proposed pathway that considers existing diabetes education products, career progression and versatile learning and training options.
Supporting pathway implementation, including development of resources, transition planning and stakeholder engagement.
Monitoring implementation, identifying barriers and enablers, and gathering feedback to support continuous improvement.
Preparing the final project report and presenting findings, recommendations and next steps.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in project management, workforce development,
health service improvement or a related field.
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.
Experience planning and delivering stakeholder engagement and consultation activities with diverse stakeholder groups.
Strong communication, organisational and report-writing skills, with experience in budget planning, monitoring and compliance.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet project deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.
Desirable
Knowledge of diabetes care, chronic disease management, or the health and community services sector, particularly in Far North Queensland.
Experience in vocational education, credentialling, accreditation or workforce capability development.
Understanding of person-centred care and co-design methodologies.
Relevant tertiary qualification in health, public health, education, project management, community development or a related discipline.
Credentialled Diabetes Educator, or an understanding of Credentialling pathways.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.
