The big picture:
This diverse full-time position is based in Brisbane, QLD withoccasional travel to remote areas and other locations and will require working some flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Duties and Specific responsibilities:
Physically sample, measure, and take the temperature of vessel's tanks and shore tanks utilising a variety of methods dictated by company, customer and API procedures
Calculate and report quantities transferred and perform full reconciliation of same
Accurately complete all required reports and forms for each appointment and communicate to customer representative
Provide written and verbal updates to customer representatives
Work in cooperation with client's representatives, Customs, vessel personnel, government agents and shore facility personnel to ensure accurate results are achieved
Maintain regular communication with office staff with reference to job status, problems, concerns
Maintain knowledge and adhere to the latest industry and client procedures and standards as provided by the company
Provide guidance and assist in the training of Inspector Trainees
Provide assistance to the Marine Surveying team as required
Conduct inspection / survey on vessel carrying bulk fuel.
Have sound knowledge on API requirements for vessel inspections.
Ensure all measuring equipment (MMC, UTI, DIP Tape, digital thermometer, etc) used on the field have valid calibration certificate.
Ensure that JSA and other checklists OHS checklist are always adhered to.
Ensure all jobs are carried out in accordance with industry practice and AmSpec quality management system.
Qualifications and requirements:
Minimum 2 years' experience in the Petroleum Inspection / Oil, Gas and Chemical industry
Some knowledge of oil terminals and storage facilities
Mustbe an Australian citizen or demonstrate the right to live and work in Australia
Must have a valid Australian Driver's License
Valid Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC), or ability to obtain
The successful candidate will be required to obtain IFIA Certification (International Federation of Inspection Agencies) as a condition of employment.AmSpec is an IFIA member company and adheres to the IFIA Code of Practice.
Candidates will be supported to obtain IFIA accreditation.
Required Skills:
Dependable and reliable
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work flexible hours – including evening/nights, weekends and public holidays
Ability to work unsupervised, both individually and as part of a small team
Must be comfortable working outdoors completing physically demanding work
Have physical ability to sample, measure, take temperature of vessel and shore stowage tanks.
Can perform manual handling, stand for long periods and regularly lift or carry up to 20KG od samples, gears, and equipment.
Intermediate level understanding on MS office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent organisational skills and self-motivation.
Sensitivity to deal with confidential information.
