Building and Plumbing Commission – Melbourne VICThe Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is seeking a skilled and passionate dispute resolution skilled to join its Dispute Resolution Division, on ongoing basis.
The role is based in Melbourne's CBD with flexible hybrid work arrangements availableAs a Dispute Resolution Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in helping resolve domestic building disputes under the Domestic Building Contracts Act ****.
Reporting to a Lead Officer within the Client Services group, you'll work collaboratively with homeowners, building practitioners, and other stakeholders to guide disputes toward fair and timely outcomes.This is a dynamic, people-focused role that requires empathy, legal insight, and strong facilitation skills.What we are looking for:To thrive in this role,you'llbring:Proven experience interpreting and applying legislationHands-on experience with dispute resolution techniques, including dispute assessment, case management, and facilitative settlementExperience withfacilitatingand undertakingconciliation meetingsAn ability to provide quality case management and advice,assistingparties to improvecommunication, clarify issues and explore potential solutions.National Mediator Accreditation (highly regarded but not essential)For a detailed overview of responsibilities, please refer to the attached position description.About the BPCEstablished in ****, the BPC is Victoria's new independent regulator for the building and plumbing industries.
The BPC brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA)
