Choorechillum (Ngadjon-Jii PBC) Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a Trainee Administration Officer to join our team and build practical administration skills and experience.
You will receive support, training and mentoring while helping with administration, meetings, records, payroll and finance support, projects and community communication.
Formal administration experience is not essential.
We value experience from school, work, volunteering, community involvement and other life experience.

About the role
The Trainee Administration Officer is a part time development role reporting to the Operations Manager.
You will be one of the first points of contact for community members, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders and will learn a range of administration tasks with support from the team.

About the role
The Trainee Administration Officer is a part-time development role reporting to the Operations Manager.
You will be one of the first points of contact for community members, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders and will learn a range of administration tasks with support from the team.
Key responsibilities
Provide general administration support to the PBC Administrator, Senior Project Officer, Board and work teams.
Answer phone calls, emails and general enquiries respectfully and professionally.
Prepare basic letters, forms, spreadsheets and documents with support.
Help keep filing, records and registers organised and up to date.
Help prepare meeting documents and organise Board, Member, stakeholder and community meetings.
With guidance, help with minutes, decision records, the Members Register and ORIC records.
Help collect and file timesheets and leave forms and learn basic payroll processes.
Help with invoices, receipts, record keeping and learn to use MYOB or other finance systems.
Help maintain project, funding and asset records and keep confidential information private.
About you
You do not need formal administration experience.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, willing to learn and comfortable working with community and the Choorechillum team.
You will ideally have:
A willingness to learn, ask questions and accept feedback.
Good communication and organisation skills.
Basic computer skills, or a willingness to learn Word, Excel and Outlook.
An understanding of Aboriginal culture, the Ngadjon-Jii community and cultural protocols.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
A reliable, punctual approach and the ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications & requirements
This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified position.
Applicants must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and able to work respectfully with the Ngadjon-Jii community and Choorechillum.
Year 12, work, volunteering, community or life experience is valued.
Administration experience is not essential.
Reliable, willing to learn and able to use initiative.
Experience in administration, reception, customer service or community work.
Certificate II or III in Business Administration, or willingness to undertake training.
Current C Class Driver Licence, or willingness to obtain one.
This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified position.
