Effective HR is a growing HR and Industrial Relations consultancy delivering practical, compliant, and commercially sound advice to businesses across Australia.
We pride ourselves on providing tailored, high-quality solutions that genuinely work for our clients, rather than generic HR templates.
Our work spans Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Payroll, Recruitment, HR and Payroll system implementations, Workplace Health and Safety, and Workers' Compensation.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced HR & IR Consultant to join our team.
This is a varied, client-facing role, however solid Industrial Relations capability is essential, with exposure across multiple industries.
What You'll Do
Working remotely with a diverse client base, you'll provide practical, confident HR and IR advice across a broad range of matters, including:
Providing expert advice on Award coverage, classification, and interpretation across multiple industries
(experience in SCHADS is essential; Building & Construction and GRIA experience is advantageous)
Advising on performance management, absenteeism, misconduct, and termination processes
Supporting clients with employee disputes, redundancies, and consultation obligations
Drafting and tailoring employment contracts to suit industry, role, and compliance requirements
Acting as an embedded HR Manager for key clients, managing day-to-day HR queries and processes
Reviewing and developing HR policies and procedures aligned with legislation and best practice
Conducting end-to-end recruitment where required (this is not a core focus of the role)
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a confident, capable consultant who enjoys the pace and variety of consultancy work and brings strong IR expertise to the table.
You'll bring:
Minimum 7 years' HR experience, ideally in consultancy or across multiple industries
Demonstrated confidence in IR matters, particularly Award interpretation, misconduct, and compliance
Strong SCHADS Award experience (essential)
Solid understanding of the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards
Excellent communication skills and confidence advising clients on complex matters
Strong attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
Why Join Effective HR?
We offer genuine flexibility, autonomy, and support in a fully remote environment.
***** hours per week, across 4 or 5 days
Fully remote with autonomy to manage your workload and diary
Paid for every hour worked — no unpaid overtime
Supportive, highly skilled team who value quality work and collaboration
Exposure to complex, interesting IR matters across a broad client base
Ready to Apply?
If you're an IR-confident HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, advisory-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Please include a short cover letter addressing:
What interests you about working in an IR-focused consultancy
A brief summary of a complex IR matter you've worked on
The Awards you're confident advising on
Your preferred hours per week and general availability
We value team fit, confidence in IR advice, and a proactive approach — use your cover letter to show us how you'd add value.
