Summary:

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for designing and implementing exercise programs to treat and prevent chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and diabetes. They evaluate patients’ health status, conduct diagnostic tests, and develop customized exercise plans based on individual goals and medical requirements. The Exercise Physiologist also monitors patients’ progress, modifies exercise programs, and educates patients on proper exercise techniques and healthy lifestyle habits.

Responsibilities:

- Evaluate patients’ health status and medical history to design customized exercise programs.
- Conduct clinical and diagnostic tests to assess patients’ physical abilities and limitations.
- Develop and implement exercise plans based on individual goals, physical abilities, and medical requirements.
- Monitor patients’ progress through regular assessment and provide feedback and guidance.
- Design and modify exercise programs to help individuals with specific health conditions, such as heart disease, pulmonary disorders, and diabetes.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Maintain detailed records of patients’ progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date with research and developments in the area of exercise physiology, and incorporate them into practice.




- Educate patients on proper exercise techniques, safety procedures, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Assist in the development and implementation of community health projects and wellness programs.

Qualifications:

An accredited Exercise Physiology degree and relevant registration with ESSA (Exercise & Sports Science Australia).

Minimum 1 year experience working in a Clinical or Workplace Rehabilitation space.

Knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal injuries, exercise prescription, developing rehabilitation/exercise programs, and liaising with stakeholders in client care e.g., EPC, NDIS, and workers’ compensation.

Experience working within an Aged Care setting is desirable but not mandatory.

Valuable relationship-building capacity and a friendly approach to patients and the work team.

Time management skills with the ability to manage a diverse case mix.

Medicare Provider Number and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Current First Aid and CPR Certification.

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Own laptop

Rights to work in Australia.

Must have a current Working with Children Check and national police check.

Updated vaccination status, particularly for influenza, hepatitis B, and COVID-19.

Familiarity with data security and privacy laws relevant to patient information.
