Systems and Platform Analyst (AVEVA PI)

About the opportunity:
A major well known Australian business is looking for a Systems and Platform Analyst to join its Software Engineering team supporting power generation operations. You’ll be the go to person for the PI platform and the industrial data flowing from generation sites into the wider business, while helping shape how that data moves into the cloud. It’s a hands on role with genuine influence over architecture, integration and the future direction of the platform.
What you’ll be doing:
- Looking after the PI environment end to end, keeping it stable, secure and performing well
- Building, configuring and supporting PI interfaces, adapters and OPC connections that bring site data into central systems
- Working with site control and operations teams to track down and fix data quality and stability issues
- Getting to the bottom of tricky integration and network problems and putting lasting fixes in place
- Helping design cloud and IoT patterns for industrial data as the business continues its move to public cloud
- Advising on system architecture, networking and integration approaches
- Writing up designs, integration patterns and runbooks so knowledge is shared across the team
- Keeping an eye on new tools and technologies that could improve monitoring and data integration
What we need to see:
- 5+ years in a technology or engineering role with strong Windows support and troubleshooting skills
- 3+ years hands on with AVEVA / OSIsoft PI
- Solid experience with OPC interfaces and PI adapters
- Experience integrating with SQL Server
- Scripting ability in PowerShell and/or Python
- A good understanding of IoT architecture patterns
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
Bonus points:
- Real time data architecture design at small and large scale
- IoT or OT experience within power generation or similar industrial environments
- DevOps experience in AWS
- ITIL certification
- Robust documentation skills including architecture diagrams and knowledge articles
- Confidence running workshops with internal teams and external partners
