About the role
A new role, and a rare one: the chance to build South Pacific Health’s clinical outreach and referral base across Australia largely from scratch, and grow it into a steady flow of clinically appropriate referrals across all our care settings.
You’ll own relationships with psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists and allied health professionals who influence where their patients receive care. Meeting referrers in person and maintaining meaningful ongoing engagement, you’ll build trust in SPH’s services and support referrers to understand and entrust patient partnerships through South Pacific Health’s industry leading programs. The role requires a disciplined approach to follow-up and record-keeping, ensuring robust visibility of relationships, opportunities and outcomes. It’s a role for someone who wants to own a function end to end and shape it as it grows.
Responsibilities
Referrer prospecting and engagement
- Prospect and prioritise referrers, priority metros first then nationally: private psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists, EAP providers, hospital discharge planners and social workers, allied health.
- Hold a named, prioritised account list in HubSpot, kept current.
- Meet monthly engagement targets through a combination of in-person referrer meetings, interstate travel and regular virtual touchpoints.
CRM management and record-keeping
- Log every meaningful activity and referrer touchpoint in HubSpot, the same week, in person and virtual.
- Keep accounts, prospects and pipeline current, so the weekly report writes itself and nothing goes dark.
- This is a key enabler of the role, not admin at the edges: the data is how we coach, forecast, and prove what’s working.
Referrer events and education
- Host referrer dinners, site visits, CE events and webinars alongside business and clinical leaders.
- Put the right referrers into the right format; follow up within [48 hours].
- Represent SPH at [named priority conferences].
Referral pathways and intake handover
- Move referrers to a first referral, qualified for clinical fit and the correct setting.
- Warm handoff to intake on every referral, then close the loop with the referrer on the outcome.
Feed back
- Weekly activity and pipeline report, drawn straight from HubSpot.
- Flag to marketing and clinical what’s landing, referrer objections, funding shifts (PHI, DVA, self-pay), and offer gaps.
Working with the team
You focus on the field: taking the referral toolkit into the market and building the relationships that generate referrals. The Referral and Advocacy Manager builds that toolkit and the systems behind it (HubSpot, segmentation, campaigns, brochures, webinars, dinners, site-visit program, conferences). You host it in person alongside business and clinical leaders. Intake assesses and admits. You build and own the referrer relationship, and work collaboratively with marketing and intake to increase revenue.
Experience and attributes
- Field outreach or relationship management in health, pharma, med-device or clinical services.
- Built a referrer or client base from zero.
- Credible with clinicians; honest about fit.
- Disciplined with documentation: logs every meaningful action in the CRM (we use HubSpot) and doesn’t go dark.
- Driver’s license; regular travel across home market and interstate.
- Highly regarded: existing referrer relationships in Australian mental health, psychiatry or allied health; AU funding knowledge (PHI, DVA, self-pay); AHPRA advertising awareness.
At SPH, we are committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients and becoming the most trusted name in mental health and addiction care. Guided by our values of Excellence, Integrity and Respect, we build meaningful relationships that connect people with the support they need.
