Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative – Corporate Services now has the following vacancy:

Casual Receptionist

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Chance Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

About the Role

The Receptionist is often the first point of contact for our community members, staff, and wider stakeholders with Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative, and as such the role of the receptionist is a highly valued, respected role within our organisation. This role is created to support all areas of Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative when reception staff are unavailable to attend work. The role aims to create career pathways for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people into full-time employment and build the capacity of our organisation to provide culturally appropriate services to our community.

About You

- You are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- A demonstrated knowledge of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and culture and an understanding of factors that influence the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people in community.
- Be polite and respectful and show consideration of others.
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively, courteously, and helpfully with a wide variety of people.




- Ability to learn to operate multi-line telephone system and deal with incoming calls and queries.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with clear and concise speech.
- Effective time management skills and a high level of attention to detail with task completion.
- Demonstrated computer literacy at an intermediate level.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
- Commitment to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
