About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Availability to work casual night shifts (10:00pm to 6:15am) , including weekends and public holidays as required.
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), Certificate III in Aged Care, or an equivalent qualification relevant to aged care.
- Current and satisfactory National Police Check.
- Proof of right to work in Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, respectful and person-centred care to older people while working under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to accurately document care and effectively engage with residents, families, colleagues and visiting health professionals.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and remain calm in emergency situations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality care.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

- Knowledge of person-centred care, dignity of risk, duty of care, safeguarding, professional boundaries and infection prevention and control principles.
- Working understanding of the Aged Care Code of Conduct, Statement of Rights and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards as they apply to care workers.




- Ability to assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility, nutrition and hydration, continence management and social engagement.
- Understanding of dementia care, behaviour support approaches and caring for residents with complex care needs, frailty, cognitive impairment and palliative care requirements.
- Ability to recognise changes in a resident's condition and promptly escalates concerns, risks or deterioration to the Registered Nurse.
- Knowledge of safe manual handling practices, infection control procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and emergency response protocols.
- Understanding of incident reporting, resident safeguarding requirements and the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS).
- Ability to deliver culturally safe and responsive care that respects residents' language, culture, faith, identity, family structures and personal preferences.
- Experience working effectively with residents from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Computer literacy and the ability to accurately complete electronic care documentation, progress notes and care records.

Desirable

- Previous experience in residential aged care, dementia care, palliative care or culturally diverse care environments.
- Medication assistance training and current competency relevant to an AIN scope of practice.
- Experience using electronic care management, medication management and incident reporting systems.
- Training in dementia care, palliative care, manual handling or behaviour support.
- Additional language skills relevant to Berlasco's multicultural resident population.
