MIGAS Apprentices and Trainees – Artarmon NSW

Join Flottweg, a leading global family-owned German manufacturer specializing in mechanical solid-liquid separation technology. They employ more than 1250 people worldwide and operate in over 100 countries and they are seeking a 1st or 2nd year Apprentice to join their team in Sydney.

This is a 4-year chance to complete a MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade and build a great career.

Reporting to the site manager and based at the Artarmon workshop, you will join a supportive team. When not at the workshop, you will be working locally at clients’ sites, additionally some potential interstate travel may be required as well. In these instances, a company car or rental car along with fuel, accommodation and travel allowances will be provided.

This full-time apprenticeship role is 40 hours a week, with an option for overtime, when available. Starting and finishing times are somewhat dependent on the sites opening hours and may vary.

You will be performing the following, but not limited to:

- Carrying out scheduled inspections, servicing and overhaul of mechanical decanter centrifuges
- Conducting routine services – inspection, wear-part and consumable replacement and test runs
- Conducting major overhauls – rotor removal, scroll & bowl strip-down, bearing and seal replacement, reinstallation and test runs
- Documentation and reporting – job cards, checklists, test-run records, recommendations, service reports and recording of job expenses and timesheets
- Working in accordance with quality and safety standards and processes –site inductions,



lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures

About You

The successful candidate will bring a safety-first mindset, troubleshooting skills and a collaborative approach to working within an experienced team.

You will bring:

- Ability to use tools – spanners, sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, allen keys, hammers, files, punches, ratchets, pry bars, tape measures etc
- Attention to detail – work precisely and keep accurate records
- Mechanical aptitude and practical skills – basic understanding of how things fit and work together and can interpret drawings, manuals and measurements
- Reliability and work ethic – Punctual, takes ownership, honest and can work to a deadline
- Teamwork and Communication–clear communicator, works well with others and listens to instructions and confirms understanding before starting
- Certificate II in Engineering pathway or similar would be advantageous
- Construction White Card (or ability to attain one)
- Valid Driver's licence and reliable vehicle
