The Role
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The Role As a Special Needs Education Assistant, suitable applicants will assist teachers in delivering planned education programs and supporting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students. Education Assistant will assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social and physical skills. Suitable applicants should have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. Applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting. Under teacher direction, suitable applicants will assist in delivering specialised education and therapy programs, including occupational, speech and physiotherapy programs, as well as planned education programs, individual and small group activities. They will provide feedback on education and therapy programs, contribute to the evaluation of student progress towards special education goals,
and assist teachers and therapists to address communication difficulties between staff and students. Suitable applicants will collect resources and administrative documents and manage classroom resources or storerooms by maintaining and updating inventory lists, monitoring stock levels and requirements, and submitting requisitions to the teacher for approval. The role may also involve ensuring the safe and hygienic storage and handling of foodstuffs and food preparation utensils.

Eligibility
- be an Australian or Recent Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
