Connectlife Australia is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team in Melton, VIC. This is a casual position with an immediate start and flexible working hours. You will provide personalised NDIS support, assisting the person we support to build independence, develop their skills, achieve their goals, and actively participate in their community. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a client whose cultural background and preferences are aligned with Australian/European cultural values and communication styles. An ability to understand and respect individual cultural preferences, communication styles, routines, and personal choices is highly valued.

Key responsibilities

Provide high-quality personal care and daily living support, including assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and other activities of daily living.

Support the person we support to access community activities, social opportunities, recreational activities, and meaningful community participation.

Assist with developing life skills and building capacity to promote greater independence and confidence.

Accompany and support the person during community outings, appointments, social activities, and other activities aligned with their goals and interests.

Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive records of support provided, incidents, observations, and progress.

Communicate effectively and respectfully with the person we support, their family or support network, and other members of the care team.

Respect and uphold the individual's rights, dignity, preferences, privacy, and personal goals in accordance with their NDIS plan.

Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment and comply with relevant health, safety, and organisational policies and procedures.

Support the person to exercise choice and control over their supports and services in accordance with NDIS principles and person-centred practice.





Assist with and supervise medication administration and compliance in accordance with the individual's support plan, relevant procedures, and applicable requirements.

About you

A genuine passion for supporting people with disability and a strong commitment to person-centred practice.

Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services, or a related field. Experience working within the NDIS is highly regarded.

An understanding of the NDIS, person-centred practice, and individualised support, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with the person we support, their families, and colleagues.

A patient, respectful, and professional approach, with a strong commitment to privacy and confidentiality.

Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.

Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary support team.

Experience supporting people with complex needs or experience within forensic disability, mental health, or related environments is desirable but not essential.
