Hodkinson Accounting is looking for a friendly, organised and capable person to join our team as a Receptionist / Administration Assistant.
You will be the first point of contact for many of our clients, whether they're walking through the door or calling the office, so we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys dealing with people and can keep things moving in a busy professional office.
About us
Hodkinson Accounting is a locally owned accounting and advisory firm based in Townsville.
We provide taxation, accounting and business advisory services to individuals and businesses throughout North Queensland, along with a growing range of business valuation, corporate advisory and forensic accounting services.
We're a relatively small team, so this isn't the sort of workplace where your job begins and ends with answering the telephone. Everyone contributes, and there will be opportunities to learn more about the business and take on additional responsibilities over time.
The role
- Answering incoming telephone calls and assisting with general client enquiries
- Greeting clients and managing the reception area
- Scheduling appointments
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Assisting with client documents and electronic signing
- General administration and data entry
- Maintaining client records and information
- Assisting accountants and other team members with administrative tasks
- Helping keep the day-to-day operation of the office organised
Previous experience in an accounting firm, legal office or other professional services environment would be useful, but it isn't essential.
About you
- Friendly and confident dealing with clients
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Reliable and willing to take responsibility for getting things done
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally
- Happy working as part of a small team
Experience with Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 is desirable. Experience with Xero or accounting practice software would be a bonus, but we can teach the right person our systems.
Above all, we're looking for someone with the right attitude. Accounting experience can be taught. Being dependable, personable and willing to learn is considerably harder to teach.
What we offer
You'll be joining a friendly local team and working in a skilled environment where your contribution matters.
There is also room for the role to develop. If you demonstrate an aptitude or interest in other areas of the business, we're very happy for good people to learn new skills and take on more responsibility.
Remuneration will be negotiated based on the experience and capability of the successful applicant.
If you're looking for a role where you can become an important part of a small professional team rather than simply being the person sitting at the front desk, we'd like to hear from you.
