About the position
Narromine Shire Council is seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants to join our roads team on a casual basis.
These positions assist with road construction and maintenance, helping provide safe road surfaces for the travelling public. Duties include safely operating Council plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and Council procedures.
We are looking for reliable team members who take pride in their work, work safely and represent Council positively in the community.
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
- Class MR Drivers Licence
- General Construction Induction (CIC - White Card) NSW
It will be desirable for you to have:
- Experience and competency operating a backhoe, front end loader and grader
- Sound working knowledge of construction techniques and principles
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Traffic Control Combo – Traffic Controller & Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plans
- Chainsaw Certification – Crosscut & Trim
- First Aid Certificate
- HR Licence
Pay and employment conditions
From $37.31 per hour, inclusive of casual loading, plus superannuation and applicable allowances.
The hourly rate corresponds to Grade 4 Entry within Council’s salary structure.
Superannuation will be paid to your nominated complying superannuation fund in accordance with legislative requirements.
These are casual positions , with work offered according to Council’s operational requirements.
Employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
Pre-employment screening
Should you be shortlisted for interview, and are then selected to progress to the next stage following interview, you may be required to undergo the following pre-employment screening process as part of the selection process:
- A functional assessment (at Council's expense) including hearing and drug and alcohol testing
- Reference checks from your 2 work related referees
- Any other additional screening that may be relevant to the role
- Council will check the authenticity of certificates and qualification
