Nurse Manager (Gde 3) - Transformative Safety Culture and Excellence in Care - Temp PT
Liverpool Hospital is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead a genuinely different approach to safety culture. This is an opportunity to shape and lead a major Nursing and Midwifery cultural transformation program at Liverpool Hospital, bringing together leadership, positive psychology, psychological safety and a evidence-based approach.
Using a strengths-based approach, you will work alongside our nurses, midwives and leaders to understand where teams are thriving, identify positive practice and translate those strengths into sustainable approaches that support safe, high-quality care.
You will be able to translate evidence into meaningful change. You will lead the co-design, implementation and evaluation of initiatives that strengthen teamwork, communication, workforce wellbeing, staff engagement, and patient safety.
A key aspect of this exciting role will be to develop people as well as systems. A central part of this role will be working with leaders and teams to strengthen leadership capability, psychological safety, trust, collaboration, and positive workplace behaviours.
Finally, the key responsibility for this new role will be to help us create a culture where people can thrive. We are looking beyond individual interventions towards lasting cultural change, where our people feel supported and empowered, learning is valued, people can speak up safely, and excellence in care becomes part of how we work every day.
Are You the Right Fit?
- Be an engaging and authentic leader who can build trust and work effectively with people at every level of a complex health service.
- Have a passion for leadership, positive psychology, psychological safety, workforce wellbeing, and patient safety, and understand the relationship between safety systems, leadership, staff experience, culture, and the quality of care we provide.
- Bring a strengths-based mindset,
with the ability to identify what teams do well and build on those strengths while remaining willing to address opportunities for improvement.
- Be comfortable challenging traditional thinking and supporting teams to explore different approaches to complex cultural and organisational problems.
- Be an excellent facilitator, communicator and listener who can create environments where staff feel able to contribute, question, learn and co-design change.
- Have demonstrated capability in cultural transformation, change management, improvement methodology, project management, and evaluation.
- Be confident working with qualitative and quantitative data and able to translate evidence, research and workforce and patient-safety information into practical improvement.
- Have the credibility to work with senior leaders while remaining visible, accessible, and connected to frontline nurses and midwives.
- Be able to turn good ideas into sustainable practice, evaluate their effect, share learning, and build capability so that improvements remain after individual projects are completed.
Selection Criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) with relevant post graduate qualifications in nursing, leadership, management, quality improvement or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Please outline how you will translate leadership theory into practice to design an nursing and midwifery specific culture transformation programme.
- How will you evaluate your own, and your projects success and use this evaluation to steer the direction of the project?
