Position Scope
Community First Bank is a customer-owned bank with a strong purpose of helping Australians achieve their financial goals while contributing to the communities in which they operate. The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and delivering clear, engaging and purposeful communications that strengthen the bank's connection with its customers and communities. The role manages a broad communications portfolio including customer communications and publications, digital content, sponsorships and community initiatives, the annual report and other corporate publications, and communications supporting key business initiatives and events. A key focus of the role is developing, implementing and measuring the bank's sponsorships and community initiatives, ensuring they align with the bank's purpose, values and strategic priorities. The role brings the bank's community impact to life through compelling content and storytelling, showcasing this across customer publications, digital channels and other relevant customer touchpoints. The role works closely with teams across the bank to translate business priorities, customer outcomes and community initiatives into clear, accessible and engaging communications. It ensures the bank has a consistent voice and effectively communicates the value it creates for customers and the communities it serves.
Key Responsibilities
Member communications and content
- i) Develop and deliver clear, engaging communications across customer publications, website, email, social media and other customer channels.
- ii) Lead communications for key customer initiatives, products, services, programs and business priorities.

Develop and coordinate content that brings the bank's customer stories, purpose and priorities to life.
- iv) Ensure communications are consistent, accessible and aligned with the bank's brand and tone of voice.
Sponsorships and community impact
- i) Develop, implement and manage the bank's sponsorships and community initiatives and activation plans, aligned to the bank's purpose, values and strategic priorities.
- ii) Build and maintain relationships with community and sponsorship partners.
- iii) Measure and report on the effectiveness and impact of sponsorships and community initiatives.
- iv) Identify opportunities to showcase the bank's community contribution across customer publications, social media, website and other relevant channels.
Content and storytelling
- i) Identify and develop stories that demonstrate the bank's impact, customer relationships, community involvement and achievements.
- ii) Create and coordinate engaging content across social media, digital channels, customer publications and other communications platforms.
- iii) Translate complex information and business initiatives into clear, accessible and engaging content.
- iv) Work with teams across the bank to identify stories, content opportunities and relevant customer and community insights.
Other responsibilities
- v) Develop and manage communications plans for key initiatives, campaigns, publications and events.
- vi) Provide communications advice and support to stakeholders.
- vii) Coordinate communications activity across channels, managing timelines, approvals and delivery.
- viii) Monitor and measure communications activity and use insights to improve engagement and effectiveness.
Community First requires you to:
- Understand and comply with Community First's risk management, business continuity, incident management and other relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, including APRA CPS 230.
- Proactively identify, assess, mitigate and report operational risks, incidents, errors and emerging risks,
escalating concerns and seeking guidance where required.
- Participate in risk assessments, workshops, training and business continuity exercises, ensuring appropriate controls and mitigants are maintained.
- Manage third-party risks appropriately when working with external service providers and partners, in accordance with Community First's policies and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and complete all required risk and compliance training.
- Promote a strong risk culture through accountability, transparency, risk awareness and continuous improvement, and ensure agreed policies and procedures are consistently followed.

Qualifications and Experience
1. A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, public relations or a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
2. Robust computer literacy, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and digital communications platforms.
3. Minimum 5 years' recent experience in a communications, marketing or similar role, preferably within financial services or another regulated environment.
