Build your credit risk career in an international banking setting. Our client, the Bank of China (Sydney Branch) is seeking a Credit Risk Officer, internally known as Assistant Risk Manager (Credit Risk). This is a junior-level opportunity for an analytical professional who wants to build experience across credit risk data analysis, portfolio monitoring, regulatory reporting and internal credit rating management.
Working under the guidance of senior team members, you'll contribute to important credit risk activities while receiving internal mentoring and training. You'll work with financial data, prepare regular reports and collaborate with stakeholders across the Bank.
What you'll be responsible for
- Prepare monthly Head Office asset-quality reports and quarterly APRA asset-quality returns.
- Assist with the calculation, monitoring and reporting of Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) in line with local and Head Office regulatory standards.
- Support corporate client credit-rating management, including monitoring rating coverage, analysing rating movements, maintaining unrated-client lists and coordinating credit-rating applications.
- Assist with second-tier institution performance reviews related to credit risk.
- Analyse credit risk and portfolio data to identify trends, support monitoring activities and contribute to regular reporting.
- Work with senior Risk Management team members and relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely and well-documented outputs.
- Contribute to ad hoc credit risk analysis, reporting and other team priorities.
What you'll bring
- At least 3 years' professional experience, with relevant experience in financial services, banking, professional services, data analysis, business analysis or a similar analytical role.
- Strong data-handling and analytical skills, with frequent experience using Microsoft Excel.
- An understanding of credit risk, financial services or banking operations, with the motivation to develop further technical expertise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English. Mandarin may be used internally and externally with clients and stakeholders.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Strong attention to detail, a results-oriented approach and a practical, can-do attitude.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.
- SQL experience is preferred but not essential.
