The Role

The ABC is looking for a Production Coordinator to join the Digital & National News team on a contract basis. Reporting to the Production Lead, Digital & National News, you'll provide administrative and production coordination that keeps the National Newsroom running smoothly. Supporting administrative, rostering, travel and resourcing processes so teams can deliver timely, high-quality journalism. This is a fast-paced newsroom environment, and you'll need to be comfortable responding to shifting priorities, including during breaking news.

The Job

- Support the Production Lead, Business Lead and Editors in the effective day-to-day running of the newsroom
- Coordinate crew bookings and diary management across teams
- Coordinate onboarding for short-term contracts, casuals and independent contractors in line with ABC policy
- Coordinate rostering and time recording, keeping resourcing aligned with divisional and departmental needs
- Coordinate domestic travel arrangements, including costings and logistics; and assist the Production Lead with International travel bookings.
- Perform rostering and time recording functions, resolving roster-related queries and exceptions
- Assist with financial and administrative processes, including timely processing of invoices, procurement, expense reconciliations and costings.
- Assist with production planning and logistics for news coverage and projects
- Support staff onboarding, system access and general workflow guidance
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers

About You

You're an organised, detail-focused coordinator who thrives in a fast-moving environment and knows how to juggle competing priorities.

You’ll have:





- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Strong administrative, organisational and coordination skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of financial and administrative processes, including ABC systems.
- Experience in rostering, scheduling, and time and attendance management, with strong knowledge of related systems and processes.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels, including within quick-paced newsroom environments.
- Strong experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to identify, analyse and resolve operational issues to improve processes and efficiencies.
