Teacher Special Education - Nana Glen Public School
Nana Glen Public School is located 25km north-west of Coffs Harbour and is set in the beautiful rural setting of the Orara Valley Community of schools. Being part of the Coffs Harbour network, we work closely with our partner schools. Our school will have 5 mainstream and 2 support classes in 2027 and is a fully inclusive setting with a focus on supporting every student, whether in a support or mainstream class. This position is the establishment of our second support class and will be connected closely to all other classes. Nana Glen Public School works with a model of student and staff wellbeing focused on emotional intelligence and working towards individualised support mechanisms that are supported by every staff member. We anticipate approximately 120 students in 2027 with a diverse school population and 30% Aboriginal students. The staff work closely as a team that communicate strongly with our supportive community and parent body. Our strong sense of community is reflected in our excellent attendance and, above state targets, and engagement at school events, including Education Celebrations, Book Week Parades, Open Days, Easter Hat Parades, Grandparents Days, and special assemblies.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Autism, special education and/or experiences catering for and commitment to maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom setting that values diversity and promotes a sense of belonging for all students, particularly those with additional and a range of complex needs.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver differentiated data-informed programs that use explicit teaching, evidence-based practice and high expectation to improve academic, social and behavioural outcomes.
- High level interpersonal skills with the capacity to effectively and respectfully communicate and work closely with students, parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community, to build and enhance a culture of inclusivity.
- Demonstrated ability or capacity to develop and implement differentiated quality Personalised Learning Plans and Behaviour Support Plans for students with complex needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
