The BUSY School is in the final stages of the registration process toopen its first New South Wales campus in Gosford in January 2027, and we're seeking an Employment Pathways Officer & Career Education Teacher to play a lead role in helping young people transition successfully from education into employment, training and further study.

About The BUSY School

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting nearly 50 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.

We are a growing independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Each campus provides a supportive, safe learning setting and unique education model combining:

- Individualised education and wellbeing support
- Vocational Education and Training (VET)
- Real-world work experience opportunities
- School-based apprenticeships and traineeships
- Career pathway planning and employment connections

Our team works alongside students to provide wrap around support that helps them complete their secondary schooling, achieve their goals and transition successfully into employment, further training or higher education.

About this Opportunity

The Employment Pathways Officer & Career Education Teacher role is a unique dual-purpose position; you'll deliver engaging career education while building strong industry connections that create real opportunities for young people.





Working closely with students, you'll provide personalised career guidance, develop individual pathway plans, connect students with workplace learning, apprenticeships, traineeships and further education opportunities, and help them build the skills, confidence and experience needed for life beyond school.

You'll also establish and maintain relationships with employers, training providers and community partners to support positive post-school outcomes for every student.

Key Focus Areas Include

- Delivering engaging career education, employability and work-readiness programs.
- Providing individual career guidance and pathway planning for students.
- Coordinating work experience, workplace learning and industry exposure opportunities.
- Supporting school-based apprenticeships, traineeships and vocational pathways.
- Developing strong relationships with employers, TAFE, universities, RTOs and community partners.
- Collaborating with teaching, wellbeing and leadership teams to support positive student outcomes.
- Monitoring student pathway outcomes and supporting successful post-school transitions.

About You

You are a student-centred educator who understands the power of career development and employment pathways in transforming young people's lives. You enjoy building relationships with students, employers and community stakeholders and thrive in a role that blends teaching with industry engagement.

To be successful you will bring:





- A recognised teaching qualification suitable for secondary education.
- Current NESA accreditation, or eligibility to obtain accreditation prior to commencement.
- Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance.
- Current NSW driver's licence.
- Experience supporting young people with diverse educational and vocational needs.
- Knowledge of career education, vocational pathways and school-to-work transitions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

Highly regarded:

- Qualifications or professional development in career development or vocational education.
- Experience in alternative education, youth transitions, employment services or vocational education.
