The opportunity
Your first role as an Occupational Therapist should give you the foundations to become a confident, capable clinician while giving you space to develop your own qualified identity.
At Kern, you will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will receive structured onboarding, tailored coaching and development, accessible clinical leadership, and support from an established multidisciplinary team.
You will work with children, young people and adults across clinic and community settings. The role may be structured as full-time or part-time, depending on the arrangement agreed.
Why start your OT career at Kern?
At Kern, we know the experience we create for our people directly influences the experience they provide to participants and clients.
We invest in the clinical leadership, development and administration support that helps graduates build confidence, strengthen their clinical reasoning and focus on delivering meaningful therapy.

- Coaching and Development tailored to you. Your support will reflect your confidence, learning needs, clinical interests and professional goals.
- Accessible clinical leadership. Your Team Leader will provide regular guidance, feedback, reflective practice and support when questions or challenges arise.
- A multidisciplinary team around you. Learn and collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists,
Psychologists and Therapy Assistants.
- Opportunities to develop your clinical identity. Build experience across the lifespan while exploring the areas of Occupational Therapy that interest you.
- Strong administration support. Our support team assists with service coordination, funding processes and systems surrounding service delivery.
- Flexibility and wellbeing support , including full-time and part-time options and five additional Kern Wellness Days each year.
- Opportunities to contribute ideas as Kern continues developing its NDIS and private services.
Your role
You will provide individualised, person-centred Occupational Therapy both in clinic and community settings, including homes, schools and other everyday environments.
With support from your Team Leader and colleagues, you will:
- Undertake assessments and contribute to individualised intervention planning
- Support participants and clients to build capacity, independence and participation
- Develop practical strategies and recommendations for everyday life
- Collaborate with families, support networks and other clinicians
- Build your clinical reasoning and professional communication
- Maintain clear and timely clinical documentation
