Diabetes Australia is looking for dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Telephone Health Coaches to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to use your cultural knowledge, lived experience, and health expertise to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living with or at risk of diabetes.

About the role
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Telephone Health Coach, you will provide culturally safe and person-centred health coaching and education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll empower participants to build confidence,
improve self-management skills and achieve their personal health goals.
You will
- Deliver culturally safe health coaching and support
- Build trusted relationships with participants
- Support behaviour change and healthy lifestyle goals
- Maintain accurate participant records and reporting
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to improving health outcomes and reducing the impact of diabetes in our communities
About you
We are looking for candidates who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are passionate about supporting community health and wellbeing.
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Certificate III or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience in delivering telephone-based health coaching interventions or similar health programs directed to individual or groups of clients
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Intermediate (or above) skills using computer-based programs and systems requiring: Accurate data collection, data integrity, timely reporting
- Ability to adapt effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment whilst maintaining quality, professionalism and participant-focused service delivery
- A commitment to delivering culturally safe, respectful and inclusive services
