u&u; Recruitment Partners is partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to recruit an experienced AO4 Human Resource Officer to join the Human Resources Program Support team within South Coast Region.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity based in Nerang, commencing 2 November 2026 through to 29 October 2027, with the possibility of extension. The role will provide practical HR support to program and project managers, team leaders and employees across the region.
The opportunity
Working within TMR’s Program Delivery and Operations branch, you will contribute to the delivery of a broad range of human resource services across South Coast Region.
This is a hands‑on HR role suited to someone who enjoys providing responsive advice and administrative support, interpreting policy, working with HR systems and building effective relationships with managers and employees.
Key responsibilities
- Support team leaders and managers across a broad range of HR matters;
- Research and analyse routine HR issues and make recommendations in line with relevant policy and legislation;
- Coordinate employee induction and exit processes across the region;
- Liaise with employees and leaders regarding establishment and payroll matters;
- Apply HR policies, procedures and processes to day‑to‑day operational matters;
- Prepare and complete HR forms, documentation and associated records;
- Use Human Resource Information Systems for data entry, data interrogation and routine reporting;
- Support regional culture and employee recognition activities;
- Contribute to HR and business improvement initiatives;
- Build strong working relationships with managers, employees and other stakeholders;
- Collate, monitor and report on HR, program and administrative activities; and
- Ensure activities are undertaken in accordance with WHS legislation and departmental policy.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience in Human Resource Management or HR support, together with the ability to apply sound judgement when researching and analysing HR matters.
You will be a robust communicator who can build productive relationships across different stakeholder groups, understand customer needs and provide clear and concise advice. You will also be comfortable working proactively, managing priorities with limited supervision and knowing when matters require escalation.
You will ideally demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor or HR support position;
- Knowledge of HR policies, procedures and contemporary HR practices;
- Experience supporting managers and employees with routine HR enquiries;
- Exposure to establishment, payroll, onboarding and offboarding processes;
- Experience using HR information systems and maintaining accurate employee data;
- Strong research, analytical and problem‑solving skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability; and
- A proactive and organised approach to managing competing priorities.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of Human Resource Management and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of HR practice.
Contract details
- Classification: AO4 equivalent;
- Contract: 2 November 2026 – 29 October 2027;
- Extension: Possible extension;
- Hours: Full-time, 36.25 hours per week;
- Location: Nerang QLD 4211; and
- Pre‑employment screening: Criminal history check required.
TMR’s South Coast Region covers the Gold Coast, Logan City and Scenic Rim areas and is responsible for supporting the delivery and operation of the state‑controlled road network across the region.
