HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a Federal Government agency to recruit experienced and analytical APS5 level Investigators to join a growing regulatory team in Canberra. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to investigations that support transparency, accountability and public confidence in Australia’s democratic processes. Working within a collaborative and high-performing environment, you will assist with complex investigations, analyse information and intelligence, and contribute to evidence-based regulatory outcomes.

About the Role

As an APS5 level Investigator, you will:

- Assist with gathering, analysing and documenting information to support investigations into potential legislative breaches and regulatory matters.
- Review documentation and financial information, identify issues and provide well-considered advice to support decision-making.
- Use data and intelligence tools to identify high-risk behaviours, entities and emerging compliance risks.
- Analyse trends and indicators of potential non-compliance and contribute to targeted regulatory strategies.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports, briefings and correspondence for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Support consistent investigative practices while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
- Work under general supervision as part of a supportive and team-oriented team environment.
- APS5 level salary ranging from $88,834 to $96,848 plus 15.4% superannuation , depending on experience.
- Non-ongoing APS assignment from 2 November 2026 to 2 November 2027 .
- Opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports public trust and accountability.
- Exposure to complex investigations, intelligence analysis and regulatory activities.
- Learning and development opportunities to further build your investigations capability.

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in investigations, compliance, regulatory, audit, intelligence, risk or similar structured investigative environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and identify potential issues.
- Well‑developed written communication skills and the ability to prepare reports, briefings and recommendations.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork capabilities.
- Adaptability and resilience in a changing legislative and regulatory environment.
- A Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or willingness to complete one) will be highly regarded.
- Australian Citizenship is required.
- A current Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

Please note you do need to be an AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN for this Federal Government role.
