With a large and diverse workforce of more than 8,000 employees, the organisation operates across Australia and has a complex payroll environment spanning multiple pay cycles, systems and business functions.

The organisation is going through a significant period of change and transformation, making this an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to play a key role in shaping the future of the payroll function.

About the role:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will lead a team of up to 8, working closely with the Payroll Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of an end-to-end payroll service for more than 8,000 employees across weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles.

This is a key role within the payroll function, with a strong focus on maintaining accurate and compliant payroll while identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems and create efficiencies.

You will work closely with HR, Finance, the wider business and external providers to resolve complex payroll matters, strengthen processes and support the ongoing transformation of the payroll function.

This role will suit an experienced payroll leader who enjoys working in a complex environment, developing a team and being hands-on with process improvement, systems and change.

Your responsibilities:

- Lead and support the payroll team;
- Oversee end-to-end payroll;
- Ensure accurate and compliant pay;
- Manage weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles;
- Handle complex payroll issues;
- Improve payroll processes and systems;
- Support payroll projects and change; and
- Work closely with HR, Finance and the wider business.

What we’re looking for:

- Strong end-to-end payroll experience;
- Experience leading a payroll team;
- Large-scale payroll experience;
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance;
- Experience with payroll systems and projects;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Confident stakeholder management; and
- Preceda, Workday or Kronos experience highly regarded.
