Experienced Practice Manager (4-5 days per week)
Lead a great team. Keep a successful practice running well. Build on what's already working.
Avant Practice Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a long established specialist ENT practice with an excellent reputation, a loyal patient base and a genuinely supportive team culture.
This is not a role where you'll be walking into a practice that needs fixing.
The practice is well established, well organised and supported by a close knit team who genuinely enjoy working together. They step in where needed, support one another during busy periods and take pride in providing a high standard of care and service to their patients.
What they're looking for now is an experienced Practice Manager who can provide confident leadership, oversee operations, maintain high standards and support the continued success of the practice.
Someone who can take ownership of the day to day running of the practice without needing constant direction. Someone who can make sound decisions, manage competing priorities, maintain compliance and keep everything moving smoothly.
Most importantly, they're looking for a leader who will take the time to understand the team, build strong relationships and recognise what's already working well. This is not a practice looking for someone to come in and change everything. It's a successful, stable environment looking for someone who can lead, support and thoughtfully improve where it adds genuine value.
Working alongside four highly regarded ENT surgeons and leading a team of six administration and clinical support staff, you'll play a key role in ensuring the practice continues to run smoothly, efficiently and professionally.
About the role
As Practice Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the practice while supporting and leading an experienced team.
You'll work closely with the Practice Principal,
but this role requires someone who is comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy. You'll be trusted to manage the many moving parts of a busy specialist practice and know when to make decisions independently and when something genuinely requires escalation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting an established team of reception and clinical support staff
- Managing rosters, leave, workflow and day to day staffing requirements
- Ensuring consulting sessions run efficiently and patients receive an exceptional experience
- Overseeing specialist billing, Medicare, DVA and health fund processes
- Managing theatre bookings, surgical administration, quotations and informed financial consent processes
- Maintaining compliance with privacy, healthcare and workplace requirements
- Monitoring practice workflows, procedures and systems to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Managing patient enquiries, concerns and operational issues with professionalism and empathy
- Working closely with surgeons, hospitals, health funds and external providers
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes where appropriate
- Rolling up your sleeves and supporting the team when needed
About you
We're seeking an experienced Practice Manager who understands both the people and operational aspects of running a successful healthcare practice.
You'll likely be someone who enjoys autonomy,
takes ownership and gets satisfaction from knowing things are running smoothly because of the work you and your team do behind the scenes.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience as a Practice Manager or similar leadership role within healthcare
- Demonstrated experience managing a practice with a high degree of autonomy and minimal owner oversight
- Strong operational management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Proven experience leading, supporting and developing administration teams
- Sound knowledge of specialist medical administration and billing processes
- Experience with surgical administration, theatre bookings and hospital liaison
- A strong understanding of healthcare compliance, privacy obligations and practice governance
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgement and confidence making day-to-day operational decisions
- A calm, practical and people focused leadership style
Most importantly, you'll be someone who can earn the trust of an established team, provide steady leadership, maintain high standards and help a valuable practice continue to thrive.
Why this role?
Because opportunities like this don't come along often!
You’ll be joining a respected specialist practice with experienced surgeons, long standing staff and a stable patient base. The foundations are already in place. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a capable team, contribute to the ongoing success of the practice and genuinely make the role your own.
What's on offer:
- Permanent full time position, with four days per week considered for the right candidate
- Monday to Friday role with no routine weekend work
- Free undercover parking
- Practice closure over the Christmas and New Year period
- Genuine autonomy, trust and responsibility
- An established, cooperative team and supportive working environment
