About the role
The Para Unit Talent Identification & Development Advisor will play a lead role in the identification, recruitment and support of Para athletes who have the potential to perform at a high level and work with Para athletes to find the sport(s) which best align with their interest, strengths and skillset. The position will work closely with NSOs/NSODs, SSOs, Regional Academies of Sport, schools, clubs, centres of rehabilitation, National Institute Network (NIN), Paralympic Australia (PA) and the AIS to expand the number of Para athletes within the Para pathway and on scholarship at NSWIS, actively identifying and transferring talent, and providing comprehensive development opportunities across various Para sports through collaboration with NSWIS and network coaches and performance specialists.
This is a full‑time position, attracting an annual salary of $115,194 plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 30 June 2027.
This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
About you
You will bring to our team:
- Experience in leading the development,implementation and delivery of talentidentification and development strategies for pre-emerging and emerging athletes across dailyperformance and competition environments.
- Demonstratedunderstanding of talent pathways and the ability to identify, establish andstrengthen partnerships that support the progression of athletes fromidentification through to high performance environments.
- Able to build andmaintain collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and externalstakeholders.
- Experience withimplementing monitoring systems for tracking athlete development.
- Demonstrated competence in working respectfully and effectively withAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people with disability,including a strong understanding of cultural values and social issues,
and acommitment to ensuring programs and services are accessible and responsive tocommunity needs.
- Workscollaboratively with staff and stakeholders to effectively deliver outcomes andcreate a culture of quality and continuous improvement, change and riskmanagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to provide succinct written andverbal communications based on sound analytical research and contemporarydiscipline knowledge; and plan and set priorities that support the delivery oftime critical projects and deadlines.
- Hasan established talent identification and development philosophy, includingestablished values and standards of behaviour that inform decision-making,athlete development and staff engagement.
- Demonstratedknowledge of high performance best practice related to Para sport, includingawareness of developing trends in talent identification, confirmation anddevelopment, coaching, pathway development, and long-term holistic athletedevelopment.
- Able to develop,evaluate, implement and improve professional duties with limited direction andan ability to supervise/mentor staff and positively support.
- Intermediateknowledge of MS Office and other sports specific software programs.
- Current Working with Children check.
- Current First Aid and Resuscitation certificate.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of MS Office programs.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or nationally or internationally recognised qualification or accreditation in coaching, teaching, leadership, sport science, health or a related field.
- Must have experience working with children and with people with disability.
