College Services provides academic administration and technical support services that enable teaching, research and innovation across The University of Western Australia. Within Technical Services, the Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substances Store team delivers specialist chemical and consumable supply services that support research laboratories, teaching facilities and operational areas across the University.
Based at the Bayliss Dangerous Goods Stores on UWA's Crawley campus, this team plays a critical role in ensuring the safe procurement, storage, handling and distribution of dangerous goods and hazardous substances while maintaining compliance with legislative and University requirements.
About the opportunity
- Coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the University's Dangerous Goods Stores, including chemical receiving, storage, inventory management, distribution, disposal activities and supervision of a small team.
- Provide technical guidance on dangerous goods handling and stores procedures, and support compliance and safe work practices in consultation with the Operational Safety Manager
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across the University, suppliers and procurement teams while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency and service excellence.
About you
- Relevant qualification in chemistry,
logistics or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent competency gained through relevant training and practical experience.
- Substantial relevant experience in the operation of a chemical, dangerous goods, laboratory supply or comparable stores‑based facility.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear advice and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the demonstrated ability to coordinate operational activities, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, inventory management systems, internet and email.
