Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Midwife to join the Women's Health Unit on a two-week contract commencing 28 December 2026. This is a Grade 5 position offering the opportunity to work in a busy, supportive maternity environment in Mackay, Queensland. The role operates on a rotating roster of 8 and 12-hour shifts, with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight, and is ideal for a midwife looking for short-term, flexible engagement in a regional healthcare setting.

- Two-week contract with adaptable shift patterns (8 and 12-hour rotations)
- Minimum 80 hours per fortnight in a Grade 5 midwifery role
- Work across labour ward and birth suite in a regional hospital setting

Preferred Requirements

- Minimum three years' experience in women's health nursing or midwifery




- Essential experience in labour ward and birth suite settings
- Ability to work rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts across the roster
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in intrapartum care
- Professional communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary maternity environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse with midwifery qualifications
- Experience with ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) systems
- Previous experience working within Queensland Health or Mackay Health and Hospital Service
