Technical Consultant: Systems & Infrastructure Engineer
Aryon Pty Ltd | Brisbane, QLD | Full time | Hybrid, with client site work across South East Queensland
About Aryon
Aryon is a Queensland-based professional and managed IT services firm. We help clients make their technology more secure, resilient and easier to manage through sound architecture, disciplined delivery and trusted long-term advice.
Our work spans cloud, infrastructure, networking, cyber security and modern workplace capability. We are particularly strong in education, health, the public sector, not-for-profit and mid-market environments where reliability, clarity and risk reduction matter.
At Aryon, systems administrators are more than ticket resolvers. We value people who understand the client environment, diagnose issues methodically, implement practical improvements, document their work properly, communicate clearly and take ownership through to resolution.
The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Managed and Professional Services team, supporting and improving a diverse range of client environments.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role with responsibility across day-to-day administration, complex incident resolution, technical maintenance and planned improvement work. It suits someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, reducing recurring issues and taking ownership beyond a conventional service desk role.
The ideal candidate will bring strong capability across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, identity, virtualisation, backup and endpoint management. Experience in an MSP or other multi-client environment will be highly regarded.
What you will do
- Administer and support Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualisation, backup and endpoint environments.
- Own complex incidents and service requests through investigation, resolution, documentation and client communication.
- Monitor platform health, capacity, backup status, security alerts and patch compliance, and address risks before they become service-impacting problems.
- Plan and deliver maintenance, upgrades, migrations, remediation and small infrastructure improvement activities.
- Manage user lifecycle, identity, access, permissions and authentication controls in line with approved procedures and least-privilege principles.
- Troubleshoot issues across servers, cloud services, endpoints, applications, networking and security controls, working with specialists where required.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, knowledge articles and handover notes in Aryon's documentation systems.
- Communicate clearly with clients about impact, progress, risk, options and next steps.
- Work with consultants, project managers, account managers and other engineers to transition project outcomes cleanly into managed support.
- Contribute to operational standards, automation, reusable procedures, problem management and technical knowledge sharing.
- Mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate while remaining accountable for your own commitments.
What you will bring
- Practical systems administration experience in an MSP, systems integrator, consulting or comparable multi-site environment.
- Robust hands-on capability across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and PowerShell.
- Experience administering virtualisation, backup, endpoint management, patching, monitoring and remote management platforms.
- A sound understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls and network troubleshooting.
- Experience with security controls including multi-factor authentication, conditional access, endpoint protection, privileged access and vulnerability remediation.
- The ability to investigate methodically, identify root causes and implement fixes that reduce repeat incidents.
- The ability to write clear technical documentation that other engineers can trust and clients can rely on.
- Strong client communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risk, options and operational impacts in plain language.
- A delivery mindset: you manage commitments, surface risks early, follow change control and see work through to a clean outcome.
- A professional approach to quality, time recording, escalation and handover.
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia. Depending on the client engagement, you may also need to complete background screening or obtain a national police check, Queensland Blue Card or other client-specific clearance.
Highly regarded
- Relevant Microsoft certifications across Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoint management,
identity or security, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Azure Virtual Desktop or Azure infrastructure services.
- Experience with VMware or Hyper-V, Veeam or comparable backup platforms, and remote monitoring and management tools.
- PowerShell scripting or other automation experience that improves consistency, speed or control.
- Exposure to Essential Eight, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, security uplift or compliance-driven environments.
- Experience supporting education, health, public sector, not-for-profit or regulated mid-market clients.
- Experience contributing to technical discovery, project estimates, implementation plans, risk registers or technical recommendations.
Why join Aryon
- You will work across diverse client environments and technologies rather than a narrow internal platform.
- You will have visible ownership of outcomes, with the opportunity to improve environments rather than simply close tickets.
- You will work with experienced consultants and senior leaders across managed services, infrastructure, networking, cyber security and client advisory.
- You will be part of a business that values disciplined troubleshooting, quality documentation, clean handover and practical client outcomes.
- You will have opportunities to deepen your capability in cloud and systems administration while broadening your experience across security, automation, projects and professional services delivery.
- You will work in a flexible hybrid model, with a mix of office, client site and remote work depending on operational needs.
Who this role suits
- An experienced systems administrator who wants broader ownership and more direct client engagement.
- A senior support engineer ready to take responsibility for complex incidents, platform health and improvement work.
- An MSP engineer who enjoys variety but wants greater scope to solve underlying problems rather than process an endless ticket queue.
- A technically strong engineer who can communicate with business stakeholders without losing technical discipline.
- A candidate who values quality, accountability and professional pride in the finished result.
Aryon Pty Ltd is an equal opportunity employer. We assess candidates on capability, experience, values alignment and suitability for the role, and welcome applications from qualified people of all backgrounds.
