The purpose of the position is to manage a broad range of human resources and employment relations functions to ultimately strengthen human resource capability of Centacare and the diocese in delivering their mission. It is assumed that the workload will be 70% Centacare and 30% diocesan.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Centacare Director and the Diocesan Finance Administrator in the recruitment, employment contract management, onboarding and offboarding processes through a HR Platform (Elmo)
- In consultation with the Director and the DFA develop and implement strategies to improve the wellbeing, engagement, and retention of employees
- Provide advice and case management on a wide range of human resources and employment relations matters including managing underperformance, ill and injured workers, investigations, workplace complaints, terminations, contracts, interpretation of legislation and industrial instruments, work health and safety, award coverage and general enquiries
- Review and update position descriptions and key performance indicators for roles within the entities and benchmarking against similar positions within the sector
- Keep up to date with new HR practices, caselaw, legislation, policies and procedures and ensure compliance
- Audit existing employment contracts to ensure compliance with relevant industrial instruments and legislation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to ensure compliance and implement improvement strategies
- Consistently and accurately maintain employee records
- Work closely with the other managers and the Director to achieve the objectives of the Centacare Strategic Plan
- Undertake any duties or project required as directed by the Director or the DFA within the skills and competence of the Manager
About you
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in human resource management, business, or a related field with experience in human resource management
- Understanding of the principles and practices of excellent human resources management
- Understanding of the employment legislative framework, caselaw and precedents
- Knowledge of general payroll practices, procedures, operations, and legislation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to draft documents, undertake research, investigate issues and find solutions
- Eligibility to work in Australia
- Current Driver's Licence, Current Working with Children Check clearance, Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
