Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 1) - HIRAID Inpatient Research - Location to be negotiated

The HIRAID® Inpatient study wards are located at Wollongong, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven and Milton Ulladulla Hospitals. Two temporary positions are available at 32 hours per week until 25 February 2029, with the possibility of extension subject to funding. The location of work will be negotiated with the successful candidates.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will support the implementation and evaluation The HIRAID® Framework for Hospital Inpatient Nurses. The project aims to support consistent patient assessment and management by inpatient nurses in Australia by adapting the validated framework: HIRAID® (History, Identify Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics, communication and reassessment).

The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC is responsible for delivering and monitoring of the project across the relevant cluster under the guidance of Dr Baylie Trostian and Prof Kate Curtis. They will be the clinical liaison, working closely with inpatient ward CNCs and CNEs across ISLHD to evaluate HIRAID® and collect data from patients, clinicians and medical records. The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC in consultation with the inpatient ward CNEs will provide support and drive the HIRAID® education where required.



Training and support will be provided by researchers at The University of Sydney and Dr Baylie Trostian. The role requires an experienced nurse, with attention to detail, excellent verbal andwritten communication skills, demonstrated excellence in education and training, an understanding of data collection and knowledge of the ISLHD clinical and administrative systems.

- Registered Nurse/ Midwife Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent post registration experience, and postgraduate qualification relevant to the specialty or working towards same and/or extensive experience.

- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.

- Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.

This is a temporarily funded position until 25 February 2029 with the possibility of an extension subject to funding.
